The Others Way Festival
A street party, of sorts, The Others Way Festival is for epic bands, both established and emerging. Set in iconic Auckland venues around Karangahape Road, The Others Way is predominately New Zealand artists, with some international guests. It’s my kind of jam. Acts at the 2023 festival include: Ringlets, Marlin’s Dreaming, Dick Move, Pachyman, Buzz, Melanie, Elliot & Vincent, FESHH, Jujulipps, Souls of Mischief, Herbs and Mary Lattimore. The Others Way 2024 had a line up that included Ladyhawke, Princess Chelsea, and Ladi6. The festival in 2025 will be held on Saturday November 29, with K Rd being closed for the festival for the first time. There will be 40 acts performing at venues in and around K Rd with artists including High Dependency Unit, Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory, Saya Gray, The Bats, Tiny Ruins (Duo), and Arahi.

The first Others Way was held in 2015. In 2023, there were 30 acts. If you were on the ball, you could have caught about 20 I reckon as the magical warren that is The Wine Cellar, Whammy Bar, and Whammy Backroom, with the Underground across the way in St Kevin’s Arcade, allows gig hopping. Twenty gigs, or half that, in one night is quite something to come down from. Writing this, I still can’t decide my favourite. And I don’t think I do want a favourite, for every artist was worthy of having a name on the bill. They brought their craft, and the people brought the dancing, the singing, and the admiration. Bring on the 2024 version.
