Ōmahanui Wedding Venue is at 170 Plummers Point Road, Whakamarama, near Tauranga. If there are no traffic problems, the location is about a 15 minute drive from Bethlehem, and a 25 minute drive from Katikati. On a good day of no traffic delays, it’s about 2.5 hours from Auckland. Where can group pictures be taken?

There are excellent options for family/group photography at Ōmahanui. There is the ceremony area, which has some natural cover in the event of rain, and there are two lawns. The upper lawn is ideal for large groups (i.e 50 +) whilst the lower lawn is ideal for smaller groups (i.e 10 and under). One thing to note, as with all group photography, is what the light is doing. If the group photos are at a time of day when the conditions produce harsh lighting, it might be better to do them at the ceremony location. The number of people, timings, client wishes, and other factors all come into play in making this decision.

Can bridal cars get close to the ceremony location?

Very close! They can pull up at two different points of the pathway to the ceremony location. Dropping off at the top will be about a three to four minute gentle walk for a bride to the top of the aisle. You can also be dropped off at another point, which is about half the time.

Are there good options for bridal pictures at mahanui?

There are excellent options. The ceremony area (once guests are elsewhere on site) is one option, then there are all the pathways (with water features) at the front of the property, then more at the back. When the light is soft, head to the top and lower lawns, plus, there is the long driveway too. In short, you don’t need to go off-site to get stunning backdrops and good light.

Can guests park at mahanui?

For this, I would very much recommend heading to the Ōmahanui wedding page FAQs where there is guidance on where to park/private bus arrival arrangements.

What are your memories from being a couple’s wedding photographer at mahanui?

At the time of writing, I have been hired for two occasions at Ōmahanui. The first was for a private event to mark a Confirmation, and the second was a wedding (for one very amazing, wonderful couple who were a dream to work for).

From my two experiences, as a photographer, I would very much recommend people consider making a booking at Ōmahanui Wedding and Event Venue. Putting aside just how beautiful the location is, I found the host/owner Aimee to be brilliant, super supportive, kind, calm, efficient, and very easy to get along with. In my experience, she was the perfect host and her team were great too.

Is the ceremony location accessible for wheelchair users?

Yes, the ceremony location is accessible for wheelchair users. There is space to park by one of the pathways that lead to the location. It is best to ask for further guidance though from Aimee (who is awesome) at the venue.
