Marlin’s Dreaming
Marlin’s Dreaming formed in Dunedin in 2017. They released their debut album Lizard Tears that same year, followed in 2018 by the EP Talk On/Commic, and the album Quotidian in 2020, and Hasten in 2021. In 2024 they toured New Zealand to mark their new album HIRL.
Band members are Semisi Ma’ia’i (lead singer and guitar), De Stevens (guitar), Oscar Johns (Bass), and Hamish Morgan (Drums). I’ve seen them four times. At Waihi Beach Hotel, Nest Fest in Hawke’s Bay, Galatos in Auckland, and at Totara Street in Mount Maunganui. They’ve played sold out shows in Australia and New Zealand, and are one of New Zealand’s finest bands of recent times.
